Introduction
Budding Resuscitation Team
Emergency Medicine is a system-based specialty that deals with unscheduled and undifferentiated patients 24/7 throughout the year. This unique programme offers high school students an experiential learning opportunity in emergency care. Participants will undergo intensive training provided by academic emergency physicians from School of Clinical Medicine. Instead of traditional first-aid training, participants will acquire life-saving skills and insights from an emergency physician’s perspective. They will learn in HKUMed teaching labs, in the community, and at the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital outside Hong Kong. Detailed course components include:
- Learning to offer life support;
- Learning to manage common medical emergencies;
- Response to mass casualty incidents;
- Response to major trauma;
- Observation of pre-hospital and hospital care to emergency patients;
- Emergency Care System in Hong Kong and Shenzhen;
- Sharing sessions from emergency medicine specialists, medical students and patients

Current Secondary 4-5 / Year 11-12 / Grade 10-11 students
Assessment / Pre-requisite(s):
This course is highly competitive. Applicants are required to submit a 3-minute video presented in English outlining their reasons for joining the programme, expectations of the programme, and future career goals.
Selection and Result Announcement
Selection will be conducted on the basis of applicant’s overall profile.
Application results and payment details will be announced to successful applicants via email by early-July.
If you do not hear from us by 19 July 2024 (Fri), you may assume your application has been unsuccessful this time and will not proceed further.
