Introduction

(English) Global Health Champions Simulation: Team Up to Solve Health Crisis

(English)

In the town of Chilandia, a border town home to 50,000 residents, an alarming health crisis is unfolding: sudden and unexplained deaths have sparked widespread concern and confusion. Rumours about the causes are spreading rapidly, within the town and also across the border. As weeks go by, health misinformation is causing harm, eroding public health efforts, and fuelling distrust in healthcare, not just in Chilandia but also across the border.

Step into the simulation where you will team up with fellow participants to tackle this urgent global health challenge. As part of the School of Public Health’s Global Health and Development [BASc(GHD)] Summer Programme, this immersive simulation places you in realistic, field-based scenarios that mirror strategy, resource allocation, systems thinking, and decision-making.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Team-Based Problem Solving: Work closely with your team to design and execute effective strategies to tackle the challenges.
  • Combat Misinformation: Gain insights into how health misinformation and disinformation impact communities and immerse yourself in learning how to counter false narratives using science and empathy.
  • Expert Engagement: Interact directly with professionals from the School of Public Health and guest organisations, learning from their real-world experiences in decision-making during complex crises.
  • Practical Learning: Explore the critical issues and questions global health experts face, enhancing your ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Through this hands-on simulation, you will deepen your understanding of global health challenges and sharpen your skills in collaborative problem-solving.

Join us in the Global Health Champions Simulation and play a vital role in saving lives in Chilandia!
