Face-off Against a Deadly Virus and Health Misinformation: a Simulation Exercise

Introduction

Face-off Against a Deadly Virus and Health Misinformation: a Simulation Exercise

Sudden and unexplained deaths have been causing concerns in Chilandia, a town with a population of 50,000. Rumours are quickly spreading about the causes of deaths. Health misinformation and disinformation are harming people’s health and undermining public health’s response. At the request of the government of Chilandia, you will be deployed to support their emergency response and be part of the Country Team.

Join us at the School of Public Health’s Global Health and Development [BASc(GHD)] Summer Programme for a series of interactive activities simulating field-based scenarios; learn practical issues and questions responders tackle during an emergency, including risk communication and community engagement.

You will also have a chance to talk directly with experts from the School of Public Health and from frontline international medical organisations who understand the considerations and decision-making processes in these complex situations.
